SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Sharon Owens, democratic candidate for mayor of Syracuse, has become the first candidate to submit nominating petitions, filing an impressive 2,800 signatures—nearly three times the required 1,000. With the deadline still days away, Owens’ early submission underscores the strong and widespread support for her campaign. "This overwhelming response is a testament to the energy and enthusiasm of our campaign and the people of Syracuse who believe in our vision for the future,” said Owens. “I’m incredibly grateful to our volunteers, supporters and community members who helped us reach this milestone so quickly.”
By turning in petitions ahead of schedule and with a surplus of signatures, Owens’ campaign demonstrates robust grassroots momentum and organizational strength. The campaign’s success in gathering such a significant number of signatures highlights her deep connections within the community and the eagerness of Syracuse residents to be part of her vision for progress. “We are running a campaign that is people-powered and focused on building a stronger, more inclusive Syracuse,” Owens added. “This is just the beginning, and we are ready to continue engaging with voters in every neighborhood to ensure their voices are heard.”
The deadline for petition submissions is Thursday, April 3.
