Sharon Owens Accepts Endorsement from North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Local 277

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Democratic and Working Families Party candidate for Mayor of Syracuse, Sharon Owens, announced today that she has received the endorsement of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (NASRCC) Local 277, a respected labor organization representing skilled carpenters and tradespeople across Central and Northern New York.

Local 277, part of a regional council that advocates for fair wages, safe working conditions, and high-quality craftsmanship, voted to support Owens following discussions about her plans for equitable economic development, investment in local infrastructure, and commitment to creating family-sustaining jobs.

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Local 277,” said Owens. “This endorsement represents a shared vision for a Syracuse where economic growth is inclusive, opportunities are expanded, and working people are respected and supported. Skilled union carpenters build more than our homes, offices, and infrastructure—they help build the foundation of our local economy. As mayor, I will work to ensure our city projects are done by local workers at fair wages, and that we invest in training the next generation of skilled tradespeople.”

Owens’ campaign platform includes expanding workforce development partnerships, increasing opportunities for local hiring on public projects, and prioritizing union labor to ensure quality work and fair compensation. She has consistently advocated for policies that protect workers’ rights and strengthen labor’s role in shaping Syracuse’s future.

In endorsing Owens, Local 277 leaders highlighted her track record of collaboration with labor organizations, her deep understanding of the challenges facing working families, and her commitment to transparent, community-driven development.

The endorsement from Local 277 adds to a growing coalition of labor organizations, community advocates, and everyday Syracusans rallying behind Owens’ vision for an inclusive, equitable, and forward-looking Syracuse.
